Animal experiences in Mallorca: how to choose responsibly
Updated October 8, 2026 · 4 min read
Horse riding, aquariums and watching wild dolphins are very different experiences. A responsible choice starts by asking whether animals are observed, guided or used for entertainment.
How to choose
For the horse-riding experience with food options, look for a small group, a route suited to your ability and clear explanations of breaks and equipment. On wildlife trips, distance matters more than a dramatic photograph. No honest operator can promise a wild sighting.
Check before booking
Check the departure point, duration, inclusions and cancellation terms on the booking page. Minimum ages, weather rules and equipment vary by operator. Also allow enough travel time: Mallorca is large, and a meeting point on the other side of the island can add an unnecessary transfer to your day.
When to skip it
Skip the activity when the weather, swell or your fitness does not suit it. A shorter or calmer alternative is often the more enjoyable holiday choice.
My verdict
The animal offers on this site fall into three kinds: rides (1 to 2 hours for €38, up to the guided ride in the Randa Valley at 2.5 hours for €99), entry tickets for animal parks (Palma Aquarium from €31, Marineland Mallorca in Costa d’en Blanes for €32) and dolphin trips, which have a guide of their own. For Marineland the operator describes shows with dolphins, sea lions and parrots; if you would rather not see animals used as entertainment, know that before you buy. If you want to meet animals at a calm pace, a ride in a small group is the better fit.
